Some Website Basics
The website needs to physically be somewhere (sort of — just go with it). You can pay a hosting company to handle all the hardware and all politics having to do with internet service providers; or, you can decide to host it yourself from home. I’ve done both and hosting it from home can be fun, if you’re into the whole nitty gritty of computer networking.
Honestly, it can be fun to solve problems when they arise. But you might have to do a lot of research and reading and general troubleshooting each step of the way. Whenever something goes wrong with the website (which happens from time to time, you can blame the weather if it makes you angry!), you will have to go in (likely via a command line terminal) and fix it yourself. Hosting it yourself means you also need to have a reliable internet connection from home with enough bandwidth to support the number of visitors your website will attract. If it’s just a personal website, you probably won’t need much.
In the end the best solution for you if you need a professional and quick website is to hire a website template company to take care of the details for you.
